Department Manager (Trauma Outpatients)

Job summary

The Trauma Outpatients Department located within the James Cook University Hospital (and satellite clinics) serves patients attending for a range of Orthopaedic problems. You will see approximately 500 patients per week through a range of Orthopaedic Adult and Paediatric clinics.

(Satellite clinics at Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, Redcar Primary Care Hospital, East Cleveland Hospital).

As the department manager you will lead your team to deliver a safe and effective patient experience.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to provide the delivery of high-quality specialist care through the Trauma Outpatients Service,

The post-holder will be expected to provide an expert clinical and leadership function in the assessment of care needs for this Orthopaedic client group.

They will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by demonstrating a range of essential specialist nursing skills to meet the needs this client group.

The post-holder is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of care on the Department with support from the clinical matron and wider Senior Leadership Team. Delivering safe, high quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers as partners in care will be the foundation of your role.

The post holder will promote the positive image of the clinical area and the trust by being a role model, having a clear vision and using direct clinical leadership to ensure an excellent patient experience and a department that promotes both clinical and operational excellence.

The post holder in conjunction with the senior management team will manage the budget for the Department to ensure the best use of resources.

The Department manager will be clear focus on the attainment and maintenance of STAQC Accreditation should be maintained through continuous weekly audit against the agreed standards.
