An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Phlebotomy team at South Tees Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate should be well motivated, enthusiastic and willing to develop new skills. It is expected that the applicant will be able to work as part of the team; using their initiative whilst delivering an excellent standard of care and service to our client group.
Phlebotomy team is made up of 21 staff members who work mobile around the organisation under the direction of the patient flow team completing phlebotomy skills to help aid patient flow.
We are seeking someone who has high motivation and good work ethic to join a well established team.

Main duties of the job
Venepuncture and cannulation skills across wards and clinics with the James Cook University Hospital as directed by the nursing and medical teams.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills and have the skills required in venepuncture and cannulation.
Successful candidate will be expected:
To take blood samples by venepuncture from patients, As requested by the medical/nursing teams on designated wards and clinics.
To take blood samples by venepuncture from patients as and when required by the patient flow team.
To insert intravenous cannulas into patients as requested by medical/nursing teams on designated wards and clinics.
To mentor and training new employees
To deliver collected specimens to the pathology lab when required.
To be sensitive to the needs of the service users whilst performing an invasive procedure.
To maintain and ensure effective and efficient use of consumable phlebotomy equipment.
To use own judgement to decide on best course of action for individual patients.
To comply with the requirements of the health and safety at work act as interpreted in the health and safety policy.
To always maintain patient confidentiality.
