We are expanding our backpain service and have exciting opportunities for Advanced Practitioners/Trainee Advanced Practitioners, full or part time.
Job Summary
Appointment to band 7 or 8A is dependent on skills, experience, knowledge and qualifications (please view both Job Descriptions attached to the vacancy). If appointed as band 7,you will follow the AP training programme and when completed would move to band 8A.
The postholder will work autonomously within the four pillars of advanced practice -clinical, leadership, education and research to deliver the highest clinical standards in the practice of advanced assessment and treatment of back pain patients. The service is Outpatient based with clinics held in multiple locations within South Tees.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will act independently in the management of an often complex and chronic caseload of back and sciatic pain patients.
You will be responsible for advanced assessment , diagnosis and treatment planning involving use of imaging, when necessary. This will involve knowledge of all possible multidisciplinary treatment pathways and appropriate referral/signposting.
You will liaise with primary care and external agencies to enable and ensure quality service provision for your client group.
Acting as a clinical leader, you will provide specialist advice to patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams, while maintaining up to date knowledge to influence practice and develop care pathways.

- Registered healthcare practitioner
- MSc in advanced Clinical Practice/Royal college credentialed/ HEE accredited AP
- Completed portfolio of professional development which evidences an advanced level of clinical practice in line with HEE (2025) framework for AP
- Portfolio demonstrating continued professional development and ongoing assessments
- Formal research module completed at level 7 (master's level).
- Will work towards and complete any appropriate credential routes which are available and applicable to the clinical area
Desirable
- ALS provider / instructor
Knowledge and skills Band 8a
Essential
- Professional knowledge acquired through a professional qualification which enables registration with a health care regulating body.
- Supplemented by significant post-registration experience and specialist knowledge of the clinical area.
- Management skills gained through theory and / or significant practice experience
- Leadership skills
- Contribution to policy development
- Ability to autonomously problem solve, analyse, compare, and interpret complex information before making a decision
