Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in haemaglobinathy to come and join the haemaglobinathy multidisciplinary team (MDT) within Haematology at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of all patients (adults and paeds) with haemaglobinathy conditions. The post holder will carry out the assessment of those needs, working with the treating teams in the planning, implementation and evaluation of measures to support both the patient and those close to them.
The post holder will work closely with members of the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure a seamless journey for all patients.
The post holder will be expected to uphold the core values of the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust of respectful, supportive and caring.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have advanced interpersonal and leadership skills, the ability to work with diverse professional groups and a high degree of professional autonomy.
The candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of nursing skills and expertise specific to the speciality of haemaglobinathy.
They will have a first degree with either a master qualification or be willing to work towards this.
In addition the successful candidate will need to have or be willing to work towards advanced clinical skills qualification and non-medical prescribing qualification, both of which must be completed within an agreed timescale on commencing in post.

- Extensive post registration experience, with highly developed specialist knowledge of haemoglobinopathy
- Extended clinical practice underpinned by training supervision and assessment.
- Good understanding of clinical governance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including effective writing skills
- Communicates highly complex, sensitive information with patients and carers on condition related information to ensure their active involvement in the medical care planning, treatment delivery and informed consent process
- Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding.
- Good IT skills
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context
