Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Consultant Clinical Scientist with significant experience to lead an manage the Medical Physics services across the University Hospitals Tees Group.
University Hospitals Tees is a hospital group formed by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to enable closer working across the two organisations.
Medical Physics services within the group are primarily located at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and consists of Radiotherapy Physics, Clinical Measurement, Medical Photography, and Nuclear Medicine Services.
It is essential that the applicant has wide experience and can offer leadership and oversight within all areas of Medical Physics including the development of other specialist services required by the group.
Main duties of the job
To lead, manage and be responsible for Medical Physics services providing safe, effective, and efficient services at the UHT Hospital sites across the Tees valley. Medical Physics services are established with a large, diverse group of healthcare science staff providing a wide range of highly specialised and complex functions that include: Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Safety (inc. non-ionising radiation), Radiotherapy Physics, Clinical Measurement, and Medical Photography. This will involve the provision of expert advice to medical and clinical staff; management of compliance with statutory obligations; management of radiation safety across the organisation; and the management of senior specialist staff.
Ensuring that Clinical Governance systems and processes are developed and maintained to enable full review and understanding of all departmental Clinical Governance activities.
To actively develop collaborative relationships with other individuals and organisations in pursuit of group strategic objectives including active involvement in the development of networked clinical and scientific services.
To work in partnership with other senior professionals to help ensure that the Group's key performance areas are monitored, results are reported, and actions are addressed in a timely manner.
