Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Children's registered nurse to join Children's Services at the Friarage Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the well-established Children's Hub team. The Children's Hub is an integrated paediatric service providing care for children admitted to inpatient day case services, children's out-patient services and children within a community setting.
There is an expectation, at times of service need, that you may be required to work in other children's services across the Trust that are based at James Cook hospital in Middlesborough.
As a member of the Children's Hub nursing team, you will be part of a forward thinking, friendly team and will be supported to develop professionally. The successful candidate will need to be motivated, have strong communication and organisational skills, be able to work as part of a team as well as having the skills to work autonomously and effectively prioritise their workload.
As a member of the Children's Hub team you will provide high quality, evidence based holistic care to children with acute and chronic health needs, within their own homes or a community setting such as respite care centre or an educational setting. Care for children will also be provided across the acute inpatient and outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
In this post you will provide highly skilled, quality clinical and non-clinical care, which is outcome focused, to support children and young people and their families, to enable them to live, participate and achieve in all aspects of life, e.g. at home and within their community.
The workload is varied and interesting with an opportunity to develop further knowledge and skills. A variety of skills including wound care, venepuncture, complex airway management, central line care, administration of IV, I/M, S/C treatment, skin prick testing, palliative care, health promotion and much more. Candidates will be supported with an induction period.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
The role involves teaching parents/carers/children/young people, and other health professionals as required and supporting pre and post registered nursing students.
This role requires an experienced clinician with team working and communication skills, who can deliver effective evidence-based care to a defined demographic population with diverse health care and social needs.
The successful candidate needs to be prepared to adapt to the changing needs of the Trust and the community models of care as they arise.
