An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic leader who can evidence personal and organisational development to apply for the post of Senior Sister / Charge Nurse to join the recently expanded Critical Care Directorate at James Cook University Hospital(JCUH). The department has an established reputation for being a warm, welcoming and supportive department.

The James Cook University Hospital is a tertiary referral centre and designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialities from one site, such as exceptional district general services, neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracic, vascular surgery and cancer services. This opens up a diverse range of development opportunities for experienced nurses with an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to act as clinical expert in Critical Care, demonstrate advanced specialist skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of patients in the Critical Care Directorate and acutely ill patients within the Trust. They will act as a team leader on a frequent basis and co-ordinate the operational activities during a span of duty.

The role epitomises the promotion and facilitation of good practice to ensure the delivery of high standard quality patient care. The post holder will possess proven people management skills, exercising a high degree of diverse and effective communication and professional judgement across the disciplines.
