Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor with a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in acute and/or general internal medicine to join our teams in delivering high-quality senior level care to acutely unwell patients in our outlier areas.
Weekly timetable will be discussed and agreed with the appointee and will incorporate:
Outlier ward rounds
Specialty work (option of Acute, Infectious Diseases, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Older Persons Medicine, Respiratory and Emergency Medicine)
2:6 weekends
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties:
Specialty doctors provide routine medical and psychiatric support, including initial assessments, mental state examinations, and managing inpatients under consultant supervision.
They are responsible for carrying out investigations, making diagnoses, and implementing treatment plans, including preparing discharge summaries.
They communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders, maintaining appropriate records and reports.
Service and Professional Activities:
They contribute to service delivery and improvement, including attending multidisciplinary meetings and participating in audit activities.
About us
This new post arises from an exciting investment in the transformation of medicine and emergency care services (MECS) at The James Cook University Hospital. The MECS collaborative is made up of Acute, Respiratory, Infectious Diseases, Older Persons Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology and Emergency medicine specialties. We have 9 In Patient wards and additional beds across outlier areas.
