South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust Community Collaborative and Primary Care Networks are working together to improve community rehabilitation services ensuring that the local population across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland receive therapy close to home. As a result, there has been changes to service provision recently meaning that services can be delivered by the right therapist in the right place at the right time.

Support and in-service training will be provided to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the role. There are supervision structures and competencies in place to ensure that you continue to deliver the best possible service to the patients in our care.

Therapy services at South Tees NHS trust are part of the wider Integrated Therapy service in Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland. This is a unique partnership between Health and Social care in South Tees with a commitment to working together, improving the quality of our services and getting rid of existing barriers between health and social services.

Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting to a permanent band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner post within Redcar and Cleveland PCN community therapy team which consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants. The service is provided over 5 days Monday to Friday and the post holder will work between the hours of 8.30am-16.30pm with no weekends or bank holidays.

As services are delivered across the Redcar and Cleveland Locality there is an expectation that you will have an ability to work flexibly and travel independently within the community. Working in the community, you will provide rehabilitation in patients' own homes and group settings, working closely with statutory and voluntary services to promote and maintain independence.

Essential

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or oMaths & English (English Language or English Literature) GCSE A-C/4-9 or oMaths & English O Level/GCE A-C or oMaths & English CSE Grade 1 or oNARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/)
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social care or an equivalent qualification or NVQ4, or NVQ3 with additional accredited training in the specialist field

  • Additional training such as short courses

  • Previous rehabilitation experience as an AHP therapy assistant at Band 3 in Health or the equivalent in Social Care
