Job summary
To act as a team leader to maintain a high standard of quality care and co-ordinate the operational activities during a span of duty. To make the best use of resources within the critical care directorate and develop good practice maintaining high standards of patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder with support from the Ward Manager, Clinical Matron and Lead Nurse to deliver 24-hour care to the critically ill patient population. They will ensure that they lead and manage the ward so that safe, high quality, evidence-based nursing care is delivered to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers as partners in care.

- Evidence of teaching and mentoring students and new recruits

- Current NMC Registration as an RN.
- Advanced Life Support provider
- The Critical Care Award. Step 2 minimum.
- BSc Nursing or be working towards attaining one - in the absence of BSc evidence of advanced clinical experience must be evident

- To provide clinical expertise within critical care giving support and advice to nursing staff
- Ability to apply advanced theoretical knowledge to the clinical setting.
- Completion of Critical Care Competency Programme
- Effective verbal & non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills

- Effectively prioritises and coordinates own work.
