Job summary
Ward 24 is a busy Neuro-Surgical unit, which provides holistic care and support to patients with a range of complex conditions from head/spinal injuries, brain/spinal tumours, epilepsy surgery and intrathecal pain/spasticity management, the unit has it's own High Dependency Unit. All patient care is planned and managed by a dedicated specialist multidisciplinary team.
Please note if you do not have the qualifications or experience marked as essential for a Band 3 role, you will be appointed at a Band 2.
Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
Care certificate
Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion ofcompetency workbook equivalentto Level 3 in a range of patient andclinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge andexperience in a range of clinicalcare duties equivalent to Level 3;
- Theoretical knowledge
- Experience of a range ofcare and related procedures
- clinical observations
- knowledge of relevantlegislation
There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.

There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.
