Job summary
The Microbiology Department at University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are working collaboratively to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology.
Depending on the level of qualifications and degree of experience from applications for the Biomedical Scientist (Band 5) posts, consideration will also be given to applicants who are newly qualified HCPC candidates and who may be working towards these qualifications and thus be applicable for employment at Registered Biomedical Scientist (Band 5) level.
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with appropriate experience, knowledge, and skills to join our scientific team and participate in the delivery of services provided by Bacteriology and Virology as part of the Tees Valley Pathology Service operating out of The James Cook University Hospital.
Consideration will be given to newly qualified HCPC candidates.
Main duties of the job
Rotation through all sections within the department will provide candidates with a wide range of experience. The role involves taking a leading role in achieving daily workload targets therefore effective interpersonal and communication skills are crucial.
Under the direction of the Microbiology Management, the post holder will be required to perform the routine day to day operations within the Microbiology department, rotating between all sections within the speciality following approved methodologies and procedures.
To assist in the training and development of Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Health Care Science Support Worker and other staff grades according to departmental policy. It is expected that the post holder will have a considerable degree of autonomy and will be able to work unsupervised for significant periods.
