Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and committed individual to join Ward 4 at The James Cook University Hospital. We are a 24 bedded, specialist medical ward caring for renal patients. This includes those with acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease as well as renal transplant patients and a variety of patients with other long term health conditions.
Two positions available, one part time (30 hours) and one full time (37.5 hours).
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
Care certificate
Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;
- Theoretical knowledge
- Experience of a range of care and related procedures
- clinical observations
- knowledge of relevant legislation
There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:o Respect and acknowledge professional skills and boundaries, takingopportunities to develop personal knowledge base to contribute to effective teamwork.o Actively participate in care provision as part of the MDT and work with other stakeholders to assist patients/service users to regain their health and independence.o Provide assistance with all aspects of personal hygiene and continence needs that the patient/service user may require.o Deliver clinical and/or therapeutic interventions and undertake observations, or health promotional activities as delegated and directed by the registered professional, as appropriate to the level of competency of the post holder. Will report patients progress, status, changes or concerns to the registered professional / senior member of the team accordingly.o Keep accurate and timely records of care, updating electronic or paper-based systems accordingly.o Liaise with patients/service users, family, carers, colleagues and otherprofessionals to ensure integrated quality care is provided.o Acts as an advocate for the patient, respecting patients wishes, dignity and beliefs.
