An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 clinical support Sister within the James Cook breast nursing team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist nursing support to patients with breast cancerand will be an integral part of the multi-professional breast care team.
The post holder will be mentored and supported by the breast cancer nurse specialistnursing team and will carry a supervised caseload providing specialist nursing advice,information and support to patients who have undergone breast surgery. A corecomponent of the role will be to provide an outreach service to provide the necessarycare and support to patients and families both before and after discharge followingsurgery. The outreach component of the role will require the postholder to be flexible toservice needs and have the required skills to work autonomously within the communitysetting.
There will be a need to develop relationships between other hospital and community staff to ensure continuity of care and service provision. It is essential thatthe post holder is sensitive to the emotional needs of patients facing major changes intheir life. The post holder will also have the skills to provide psychological care, support and understanding to patients and their families.
