37.5 Hours per week

Applications invited from current OT (Occupational Therapy) students about to qualify or existing qualified OTs.

Successful applicants can start as Band 4 pre-reg OT's prior to HCPC registration if needed. The successful applicants will join the well established graduate rotation across health and social care teams within Middlesbrough & Redcar and Cleveland and Hambleton & Richmondshire.

Continuing professional development is actively encouraged and regular support and supervision will be provided by a Band 6 or 7 Occupational therapist within the team. Participation in service developments and clinical governance is also expected, for which there is excellent support throughout the integrated OT service to help you develop.

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist within the Trust the postholder will also be part of the wider Integrated OT service. This is a unique partnership between Health and Social care in South Tees with a commitment to working together, improving the quality of our services and getting rid of existing barriers between health and social services.

Main duties of the job

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the country, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and within easy reach of Newcastle and Leeds. It comprises two acute hospitals, The James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton and a number of community hospitals and community services.

We offer a nine month rotational programme including medicine/surgery & Cardio, neurology/neuro rehab, elderly care, orthopaedics, vascular, stroke, palliative care, housing and social care teams, intermediate care, Primary care hospitals and Community Therapy including urgent community response. We are looking for a highly motivated occupational therapists with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and on your own, frequently using your own initiative. You will often work with a wide multidisciplinary team and be involved with clients with a range of multiple medical, social and emotional problems.

The role will at times include carrying out assessments with patients in their own homes, therefore, successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.
