Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Ward 22, paediatric surgical ward at The James Cook University Hospital to employ a Clinical Support Worker. The role is to support the nursing team in providing direct patient care to children and young people. The role also involves some administrative work.
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
Care certificate
Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion of
competency workbook equivalent
to Level 3 in a range of patient and
clinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge and
experience in a range of clinical
care duties equivalent to Level 3;
- Theoretical knowledge
- Experience of a range of
care and related procedures
- clinical observations
- knowledge of relevant

There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications
Main duties of the job
We care for children from birth until 18 years requiring surgical and medical care. We care for children from numerous specialities and a family centred approach to care is essential.
We are a team committed to delivering and maintaining high quality patient care and are looking to attract a Health Care Assistant who shares our goal. In return we will support ongoing professional development and provide regular training opportunities.
Experience in health care is preferred, with experience working with children and young people desirable. Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills, be enthusiastic, well motivated and share a commitment to team working.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
