Job summary

We are seeking an organised and motivated podiatrist to help support and shape the future of the service on a fixed term/secondment basis, until 31.03.2026.

The post holder will work in partnership with all relevant education providers supporting apprentices , student placements, undergraduate postgraduate learners along with promoting the profession within schools colleges and the wider community. The role also involves educating stakeholders to improve the quality of referrals into the service.

You must demonstrate effective leadership, communication and organisational skills; and be able to operate effectively on your own and within a team.

You must be proactive with current and future service development and workforce planning reviews, analysing current capacity and identifying service gaps, looking at alternative pathways and extending scope of practice.

Candidate will develop and maintain robust induction packs and clinical guides for student podiatrists and apprenticeship students and champion the profession, promoting the profession at careers events, schools and colleges

The service operates Monday to Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm, but a flexible approach is essential.

Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide leadership in education and professional development, to develop and deliver an efficient and effective podiatry service within the framework of clinical governance.
  • To promote, and champion all aspects of education, professional development, and clinical excellence.
  • To have direct responsibility for student podiatrists, apprentice podiatrists and assistant practitioners working in collaboration with university leads and student mentors.
  • To provide strong leadership in the provision of effective, high quality, podiatric learning.
  • To lead and support audit and research projects to evaluate service delivery.
  • To be responsible for the education, training and development of podiatry staff and students on placement.
  • To regularly review clinical practice delivery in light of new models of care and clinical transformation programmes and to identify new ways of working, this includes the advancement of extended clinical skills in this post and others.
  • To work with medical, nursing, AHP and other healthcare colleagues across the clinical speciality and outside of the Trust to provide optimum learning experiences.

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7
