Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to complement our welcoming multi-disciplinary team within the Eye Outpatients and Eye Casualty Department.

The department currently offers a range of services for both adult and paediatric patients accessing the service for elective and acute treatment. The successful candidate will rotate between both departments, delivering safe, effective, high quality care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work alongside our growing team and develop skills specific to ophthalmology to be able to run pre-assessment clinics,fundus fluorescein angiograms, venepuncture, assessments of eye casualty patients and much more.

The role involves ensuring patients receive all of the necessary tests required prior to seeing the doctor in clinic.

The candidate will need excellent communication and IT skills, and have the ability to troubleshoot patient enquiries over the telephone.

NMC registration is required.

There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
