Job summary

37.5 Hours per week

We require a motivated healthcare assistant to work on Ward 35. Ward 35 is a 26 bedded surgical unit that specialises in ENT OMFs Plastics and Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will work within the multidisciplinary team delivering high quality care. Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated candidates.

We will require the successful candidate to workdays, nights and weekends on a rotational basis.

About us

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in a number of community hospitals.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

  • Level 1 English and Maths functional skills. (This must be completed within first 6 months of appointment if not already achieved in order to access NVQ programmes )
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care (Level 2 Diploma in HealthCare) or able to demonstrate appropriate transferable experience
