If so, we are looking for a self-motivated individual to work with us to continue to develop our Trauma unit, ward 36.

Ward 36 is a 34 bedded Major Trauma and Trauma Ward, caring for complex trauma patients. It is a busy and rewarding environment to work in. Supported by the Matron and Ward Manager along with three Sisters, a full complement of Registered NHS and Military Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, NHS and Military Health Care Assistants and ward administration support, you will be fully supported in this exciting role.

The role requires you to be flexible, resilient and forward thinking with compassion and care for the patients you come into contact with. You will be an honest person who is straightforward and has high standards of care. You will thrive on the busy nature of our ward and you will enjoy keeping things going when it gets tough. This post requires skills including having the right strengths and being a positive motivator.

Main duties of the job

You will work with a team of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and Emergency Department Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Major Trauma Co-ordinator, and Nurse Practitioners working together to enhance patient care and experience.

About us

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in a number of community hospitals.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
