Job summary
Up to 37.5 hrs per week
The Gastroenterology Ward (Ward 6) at James Cook University Hospital cares for people who are acutely unwell and require admission to hospital for a variety of reasons relating to gastrointestinal (stomach and intestines) and hepatological (liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas) diseases, as well as patients requiring nutritional support. The liver service has recently been awarded IQILS ( Improving Quality in Liver Services) level 2 accreditation which is 1 of only 14 in the country acknowledging the patient focused care provided.

The ward works closely with many other teams and departments, including the Endoscopy Department, specialist liver nurses, specialist nutritional nurses, and specialist IBD nurses.
Nurses from non-acute or non NHS backgrounds are welcome to apply. You will be supported by the Ward Manager, Practice Development Nurse and Clinical Matron in your continued professional development with the appropriate training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
You'll be meticulous and organised and able to manage your own workload. Communicating directly with patients to ensure that we are meeting their needs you'll be a role model for the Trust values of being Respectful, Supportive and Caring both to your patients and other colleagues.
The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the busy Gastroenterology Ward within the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust.
