Job summary

The Sterile Services Department at James Cook Hospital have an exciting opportunity for two motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated people to join our team.

Within Sterile Services the person appointed will be responsible for the checking and disassembly of instrument sets prior to decontamination and the re-assembly, packing, sealing, and labelling of clean surgical instrumentation.

Main duties of the job

The Sterile Services Department at James Cook Hospital have an exciting opportunity for two motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated people to join our team.

Other duties include operation of specialist Washer Disinfectors and Autoclaves.

This service usesa computerised instrument traceability/tracking system which staff will be trained in the use of.

Whilst the base for this role is at James Cook Hospital the successful candidate may be expected to also work on the Friarage Hospital site. Also the successful candidates will be expected to work in Endoscopy Decontamination if required (& full training will be given in this area if/when the need to work generically between the 5 SSD/Endoscopy Decontamination Departments arises).

Some experience in either Sterile Services or Endoscopy Decontamination would be an advantage but it is not essential as full training will be provided in role.

It is essential that candidates have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are capable of working in a service driven by deadlines and turnaround times.
