An exciting opportunity has arisen within Victoria ward at The Friary Community Hospital, Richmond. Are you wanting an exciting challenge, and fulfil the job description and person specification?
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Ward Housekeeper. The successful candidate will work alongside the multidisciplinary team, comprising of the Registered Nurses, Health care assistants, Therapy teams & Ward Manager.
As a ward housekeeper you can make a real difference to the patients experience in hospital by providing support and a friendly face to patients during their stay.
The post holder will be part of the team, who will be flexible, and with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The post involves shift patterns; Monday to Sunday, and bank holidays. You will be part of a team, however you will also be able to work independently to organise daily tasks and priorities, whilst upholding the trust values and behaviours.

Main duties of the job
The ward housekeeper is a vital role within the Victoria ward setting, as well as being part of the wider team that ensure each patient has a good experience, the role is to provide the meal and snack service and drinks throughout the day to our inpatients, achieving hydration and nutrition for all of our inpatients, and to be responsible for all appropriate elements of food hygiene and food safety in the ward kitchen.
The role will involve:
* Announcing ahead when the meal service will start through a bell system, in order for all staff to ensure patients are prepared for their meals.
- Cleaning of working areas, ancillary areas and equipment, etc.to set cleaning schedules' and frequencies
- Preparation of certain food products for the serving (food delivered to ward)
- Service of food for inpatients
- Clearing and cleaning post service
- Washing up responsibilities and correct use of detergents.
- Comply with departmental working instructions at all times.
- Comply with Food Hygiene Codes of Practice, Health and Safety at Work, COSHH, HACCP, and other Trust policies and procedures.
- To project a friendly, helpful, courteous and professional image at all times when in contact with other hospital staff, visitors and patients.
