Job summary
Early and faster diagnosis improves patient experience and outcomes. The NHS Long Term Plan established the importance of earlier, faster diagnosis for patients with a suspected cancer by the introduction of the Faster Diagnosis Framework. As a result of this, Best Practice Timed Pathways (BPTPs) are being implemented across cancer pathways in order to shorten diagnostic timeframes, reduce variation and deliver high quality patient care.
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Cancer Services are seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual to work directly with operational colleagues across the Trust to support implementation of BPTPs in cancer care.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Cancer Services team the postholder will support colleagues to deliver on recommendations made as part of process reviews, monitor and measure progress against activities towards implementation of BPTP identifying any barriers and delays in pathways, support improvement in cancer waiting times standards, in particular the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard and the 62 day Cancer Waiting Time Standard as well as overall improvements in cancer patient experience.
The role requires excellent pragmatic approach to project management, effective communication skills as well as a methodical attention to detail. You will report directly to the Service Improvement Lead (RDC) and you will be required to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and on your own initiative.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals with relevant skills and experience. A degree, or equivalent qualification and experience of project management is essential and previous experience of working within NHS cancer services or in a similar role is desirable.
