Fixed term to cover maternity leave until Sept 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to support the current CHDU Critical Care team. The CHDU is a busy unit caring for critically ill patients and those requiring support following Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an active member of the Multidisciplinary Team, demonstrating essential nursing skills, supporting staff in a safe caring environment that promotes evidence based practice. As part of the role the post holder will ensure that adequate levels of stock and equipment are maintained.

This is a rotational post of nights and days.

It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
