An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the Pain Management Service.
Candidates will have an interest in pain management and a desire to develop their knowledge and experience to deliver high, safe, quality patient care.
The post holder will need to adopt a visible and accessible approach for patients, their relatives, carers and staff. They will be able to demonstrate post registration experience and level of clinical knowledge, positive leadership skills and evidence of on-going continuous professional development.
The department is committed to staff development and offers a good competency-based training package to enable progression from a Band 5 to Band 6 nurse in a timely manner. As the main Tertiary Centre within the Tees Valley, candidates will have the opportunity to develop their nursing skills in an exciting multi-disciplinary environment. The post holder will work within the context of a supportive, comprehensive, multi-professional, specialist team but will be required to provide advice and support to patients and carers.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as an active member of the chronic pain multidisciplinary team and will have responsibility for their own practice and behaviour. They will provide clinical support to the nursing and medical team by working within NMC competencies.
This post will enable the holder to develop their knowledge in the management of pain and understanding of the biopsychosocial consequences of it effects.
The chronic pain role requires to support consultants and senior nursing staff in the outpatient clinics which take place at The James Cook and satellite clinics across the South Tees Trust.
As a Band 5 Registered Nurse (Staff Nurse) you will be supported through a competency-based training package that will enable you move from competent to proficient in a timely manner and progress to a Band 6 Registered Nurse (Sister)
To assess patients' health status in relation to their presenting pain referral and make decisions, in collaboration with senior clinical staff and advise patients. To liaise with GP's and other AHP'S on clinical management plans.
The post holder will support and supervise health care assistants and support the training and assessment of student nurses and volunteers.
Demonstrates the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C's acting in the best interests of patients and treating with dignity and respect. Support and help drive the quality improvement agenda and change within the working area.
About us
Our Multidisciplinary Pain Management Service is situated in a purpose built department and comprises of 5 Medical Consultants, 2 Specialist Nurses, 2 Neuromodulation Sisters, 1 Chronic Pain Sister, 2 Health Care Assistants, 3 Physiotherapists, 2 Psychologists and Receptionist. The service is supported by our Administration team where we all work together to put the patient first.
