South Tees NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust is a large and busy Trust providing care for both urban and rural communities. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is situated within the Community Centre of the Trust and cares for sick and preterm babies from some 5500 deliveries and growing each year.
The Trust is one of the largest acute health care providers in the North East and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in particular is expanding. We have 15 intensive / high dependency cots, We care for not only our own home grown babies but we also deliver intensive care for any babies around the region should they require to be transferred from a local Special Care Baby Unit and as such the experience that you can gain here will be invaluable, if neonates is your particular specialist area.
We are looking for some dynamic and motivated staff to work on our expanding neonatal unit. We have several posts available in order to complement and increase our existing staff establishment. We have a happy and positive environment where staff with and without previous experience will be supported to grow. We have an induction programme and practice development staff that can support you through to becoming a fully functioning member of our team.
Main duties of the job
There will also be opportunities to progress to become fully QIS qualified (qualified in speciality) in the future. We have a large, friendly nursing team that includes ANNP's, Community Outreach and also Assistant Practitioners and Health Care Assistants; who all like to do an excellent job for our patients. Our medical team are also friendly and supportive and we work without barriers together for the good of our patients. We are actively pursuing Family Integrated care and as such are developing more parent-focussed initiatives on the unit. This is a unit that is going places and we would love you to be part of it.
We are therefore looking for staff that will have the commitment and determination to join our team and help us develop services and continue to build on our already high standards of neonatal care. Although previous neonatal experience would be advantageous, we would also like to hear from you if you have just qualified or have a passion for working with babies. The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
