Nuclear medicine practitioners (technologists) work in multidisciplinary teams to diagnose and treat disease using radionuclides and radiation in its various forms. This apprenticeship is ideal for people who enjoy science subjects, have a desire to work with patients and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors for a career in healthcare science.
You must be available to start the University course in September 2023.
During the apprenticeship you will:
- Complete an integrated 3-year B.Sc. in Healthcare Science at the University of the West of England, Bristol. This is a three-year course combining face-to-face, work-based and online learning, with three five-day blocks at UWE Bristol in each year for seminars, laboratory and practical sessions, plus tutorials and assessments. The rest of the learning is based in the workplace with extensive online interaction, requiring a combination of directed and independent studies alongside hands-on experience.
Main duties of the job
Accepted Level 3 qualifications for entry to BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science at UWE (must have Maths and English GCSE Grade C or equivalent) with no or minimal relevant work experience:
- A level - a minimum of 96 points (CCC) including at least one relevant STEM subject (e.g. physics, engineering or Mathematics) at 32 points/Grade C or higher.
- T level - a minimum of a pass grade (A-C in core components) in either Healthcare Science or Science.
- BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science - including pass grades in units that relate to the PTP specialism specified within the application.
- BTEC National Extended Diploma - grade MMM, including at least one relevant STEM subject.
- Access to Higher Education (60-credit) Diploma - at least 15 credits must be in STEM-based units and graded merit or above.
Accepted Level 3 qualifications with extensive (4+ years) relevant work experience:
- A level - a minimum of 64 points (CC), including at least one relevant STEM subject at 32 points/Grade C or higher.
- BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science - including pass grades in units that relate to the PTP specialism specified within the application.
- BTEC National Extended Diploma - Grade MPP, including at least one relevant STEM subject.
- Access to Higher Education Diploma - at least 45 credits achieved at level 3 (15 at merit or above); 15 level 3 credits must be in STEM-based units.
