This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 30 hours per week.
An excited opportunity has arisen on Greyfriars Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist.
Greyfriars Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 10 bedded mixed unitwhich provides care for those people who require a period of increased supervision and intensive input as a result of acute mental health problems. Greyfriars is situated within Wotton Lawn Hospital a 88 bedded acute In-Patient Unit for Working Age Adults with a range of complex mental health conditions. Wotton Lawn has 4 acute wards, and a fully equipped Therapy Department (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Health & Exercise).
The Therapy Department within Wotton Lawn Hospital provides a 7-day service. The post involves having a responsibility for devising and providing Occupational Therapy intervention to in-patient service users with complex mental health needs within Greyfriars PICU. This will incorporate the principles of Recovery and Social Inclusion, to ensure effective and safe discharge planning. The post holder will also have responsibility for delegating tasks as outlined in individual Occupational Therapy intervention plans.

Main duties of the job
The post holder should be able to demonstrate effective clinical reasoning skills, apply theory to practice and communicate effectively with patients, their carer's and colleagues alike.
Provide specialist Occupational Therapy Assessment and Treatment to individuals with complex Mental Health needs, who may also have Learning Disabilities and Physical health challenges.
Use the Model of Human Occupation, and associated assessment tools, within clinical practice, and to support clinical reasoning.
Ensure risks associated with intervention and environment are assessed and managed in collaboration with MDT.
