The Princess Anne Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit at Stroud General Hospital provides a range of surgical and endoscopic services. The Theatre Department is renowned for its modern and spacious up to date environment. The Theatre provides a wide range of specialties, including Trauma & Orthopaedics, breast, urology, gynaecology and oral surgery. Our JAG accredited Endoscopy suit undertakes diagnostic and treatment procedures.

The team is looking to recruit flexible and highly motivated Registered Nurse/ODP for the challenge of working in a dedicated, caring and motivated team on our Day Surgery Ward. You will be responsible for the care of both theatre and endoscopy patients and undertake nurse-led patient admissions and discharge.

Stroud is a beautiful market town in a semi-rural position that has the added bonus of being in close proximity to the M5 motorway and is also serviced by excellent train links to London, Bristol and the South West; our site offers free parking.

Main duties of the job

The Princess Anne Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit cares for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical and endoscopic procedures with specialities including: Gynaecology, Breast, Orthopaedic, ENT, and urology, along side both diagnostic and treatment endoscopy.

The role of the Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered Nurse (RN) requires you to function effectively as a member of the peri-operative team to ensure the safe provision and development of an efficient and high-quality service. You will be a key member of the peri-operative team ensuring that patients receive excellent standards of care. You will be confident in delivering peri-operative care and will have a broad knowledge and skill base.

You will be driven to ensure the standards of care you deliver are effective, current and evidenced-based and enjoy working within a small team putting the patient at the heart of everything that you do.

The role requires a team approach, providing and maintaining high standards of care. The RN/ODP will fulfil the roles on the ward undertaking assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing care for service users during the perioperative journey.
