Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust

Community Occupational Therapist

The closing date is 22 February 2026

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team, working with a person-centred approach to coach, support, and enable positive outcomes for the diverse population of North Cotswolds.

This role offers a wide range of development opportunities, including experience in urgent response, falls response, long-term condition management, and housing adaptations. The post holder will be an integral member of the Integrated Community Team, delivering high-quality occupational therapy services to adults aged 18 and over with physical disabilities.

The role involves assessing needs, collaboratively setting goals, delivering interventions, and evaluating outcomes. Practice will be underpinned by recognised occupational therapy models, evidence-based interventions, and outcome measures.

A valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is essential.

Main duties of the job

We are a technologically SMART Trust, operating a mobile office model that equips you with everything you need to work efficiently and comfortably while on the road. SMART working enhances staff safety through live systems, providing instant access to patient records and previous interactions wherever you are.

To thrive in this role, you will need excellent communication skills, the confidence to make sound clinical decisions, and a genuine commitment to developing your professional potential.

You will need current HCPC registration. While post registration experience is helpful, it is not essential, and we offer a strong preceptorship programme to support newly qualified Occupational Therapists.

If you are driven by excellence and are seeking a role that offers autonomy, flexibility, and a progressive approach to occupational therapy practice, we encourage you to apply and take the next step in your career with Gloucestershire Health & Care Foundation Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and treating a defined caseload using a health coaching approach
  • Providing supervision and support to Occupational Therapy Assistants, students as appropriate
  • Offering specialist occupational therapy advice to other professionals and promoting the OT role within the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Participating in departmental research and project work when opportunities arise

About us

We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.

Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:

  • 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
  • 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
  • 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.
