Job summary
This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 15 hours per week.
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Assistant Medical Secretary post to support the Memory Assessment Service at Sherborne House, Cheltenham. The Memory assessment service (MAS) forms part of the countywide community team. There are 2 Consultants and the post entails supporting the Medical Secretary in providing a full secretarial service by typing of digital dictation from clinics, with appropriate distribution etc, and assisting with any relevant administration tasks as requested.
The working hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings or afternoons. This may suit someone with children of school age and fit around school hours for a good work life balance. You will ideally have secretarial experience and be accustomed to working in a high pressured yet friendly environment.
As a member of the secretarial team, you must possess an excellent work ethic with proven organisational and communication skills.
You will work as part of a committed supportive team and be able to deal confidently and professionally with colleagues, GP surgeries and patients, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Main duties of the job
You should have a friendly, positive, problem solving approach, be self-motivated, willing to learn and enjoy using your own initiative, within the remit of the post. You will need to be an excellent team player with the ability to adapt to various tasks according to service needs. As well as good verbal, written and numerical skills, you must be able to prioritise and organise your own workload well, and be able to work effectively and efficiently.
You will be skilled in IT applications; including, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and have excellent interpersonal and strong communications skills. You should be able to adapt to a busy changing environment and be able to work with people under pressure.
This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory trainingand post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
