Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a B5 or B6 Sexual Health Nurse; if you do not have a recognised contraception qualification and sexual health experience you would be employed as a B5 nurse. However, having gained practical experience in clinic and upon successful completion of the University of the West of England's Integrated Practice for Sexual and Reproductive Health you would be a B6 Nurse.
The role is centred upon working within Gloucestershire's Integrated Sexual Health (ISH) service and the Pregnancy Advisory Service (PAS). ISH is a hub and spoke model whilst PAS is based at our hub (Hope House). To provide confidential and consistent contraception and sexual health services within nurse led clinics and alongside medical colleagues.
Working as an Independent Practitioner, the role requires professional leadership - acting as a role model to junior staff and treating patients within Sexual Health, as well as acting as the Senior Nurse at clinics when required and deputising in the absence of the Lead Nurse.
Main duties of the job
- Work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines, taking responsibility for the assessment of care and health education needs.
- To take charge of clinics and to ensure the continuity of the day to day management of the service.
- Participate in and run nurse-led clinics (to include assessment and diagnosis). Use professional judgment to seek advice or refer to medical colleagues as clinically indicated
The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
