Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant if you would like to join our dynamic and forward thinking teams at 2 of the Minor Injury & Illness units in Gloucestershire at Stroud & Tewkesbury.

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care to Adult & Paediatric patients with minor injuries and illnesses.

While training can be offered in specific skills, the successful applicant will need their NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Health & Social Care

As this post is for 35 hours a week across the 2 sites so you will need to be able to drive - 15 hours at Stroud ( 2x 7.5 hour shifts) & 20 hours at Tewkesbury ( combination of 6 hour & 12 hour shifts to support service demand).

Main duties of the job

o Provide Patient care as directed by trained staffo working with colleagues to provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff , patients and visitorso Entering patient details onto clinical systems such as SystmOneo Ordering of storeso Reception & Administrative role - booking in patients that arrive to the unit, answering telephone calls and assisting with patient and professional enquiries.o Maintaining cleaning schedules and controls stock, equipment and materials.o Contributes to promoting health and safety, minimising risk in the workplaceo Performing Clinical Observations including NEWS & PEWS scores, Visual Survey, Plastering, wound care & ECG's.

This role requires staff to work a variety of hours over a 7 day week.

As a Health Care Assistant you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care and services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service. Health Care Assistants, employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard, and to challenge others who are not.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential. If you are new to care and hold no experience in healthcare, then we offer a fantastic development opportunity with a structured development plan (including achieving the Care Certificate). You will progress from a pay band 2 to pay band 3 on achievement of the Care Certification.

You will receive direct supervision and partake in reflective practice and training on a regular basis and to support you meeting the Care Certificate standards. All successful applicants will also have the opportunity to discuss the prospect of undertaking a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship alongside their substantive post. This apprenticeship would include the Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare.
