Job summary
The Physiotherapy Assistant will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) based at Great Western Court (GWC). GWC is a short-term, residential rehabilitation unit with 30 beds. They will need to take responsibility for a delegated workload and to implement and progress a patient treatment programme within a broad framework to work towards their safe discharge. They will work unsupervised with patients but under the guidance and support of the senior therapists when required.
This role is offered on a permanent basis, full time - 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The Physiotherapy Assistant will hold their own caseload for which they are responsible for the treatment progression and implementation. They will be required to undertake some initial assessments that have been screened as appropriate by a Physiotherapist whilst ensuring they are working within their scope of practise and be able to identify when a patient needs to be referred back to a qualified Physiotherapist. They will be required to write patient notes on their electronic record in a timely and professional manner and will be responsible for signposting patients to other services and making ongoing referrals when needed. They will also be required to take part in the weekly MDT meetings to provide feedback on patients progress as part of their discharge planning. The Physiotherapy Assistant will also need to liaise with the Rehabilitation Assistants, also based at Great Western Court, to ensure they are also working towards the patient goals.
The Physiotherapy Assistant will be a part of the wider physiotherapy team and may be required to complete home visits when required.
They will also be required to support the Physiotherapists with administration, clerical and housekeeping duties.
