We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 Registered Nurse or AHP / Paramedic to join the team at Forest of Dean Minor Injury & Illness Unit.

Our ideal candidate will have recent experience in an MIiU /ED or acute clinical environment and whilst this is desirable it is not essential if transferable skills can be demonstrated.

You will also have a passion and commitment to the care you deliver & hold the patient experience at the heart of your practice and share our organisational values. You will need to be motivated and enthusiastic in your role & looking for an opportunity to join our highly skilled team of Emergency Practitioners who deliver evidence-based clinical care in our Practitioner Led Unit.

Main duties of the job

Forest of Dean Hospital has a dedicated minor injury & illness unit (MIiU) open 7 days a week 08:00 - 20:00 hrs for Paediatrics & Adults with Minor Injury & illness presentations.

The Band 5 role includes the triage of patients using Manchester Triage and maintaining the safety of patients that are waiting to be assessed whilst working alongside the Emergency Practitioners to deliver care.

As a member of the Gloucestershire NHS, the unit offers a diverse range of training opportunities and is committed to personal as well as service development. We also offer the opportunity of training with a preceptor to support the transition induction period and ongoing professional development.

  • RGN with current NMC registration or paramedic with current registration
  • Relevant clinical experience (including that gained as a student nurse / Health Care Assistant
  • Computer literate
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required, including the use of Patient Group Directives
  • Evidence of on-going development

LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Evidence of ability to plan care for a group of patients

Desirable

  • Experience in Manchester Triage
  • Experience of working in primary care and/or urgent care settings
