Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC) and Integrated Care-24 (IC24) are pleased to share that they will soon be providing the Integrated Urgent Care Service for Gloucestershire including Out of Hours Urgent Care GP Home Visiting and are looking for a receptionist to join GHC.

The GP out of hours service will be accessed through the NHS 111 service and the Clinical Assessment Service. The receptionist service will operate after 6pm weekday nights and 24 hours a day weekends and bank holidays. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with good working knowledge of health services to provide a comprehensive reception service at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals for Integrated Urgent Care Service including Out of Hours Urgent Care. Shifts will be available on an ad-hoc basis via our Temporary staffing team.

Main duties of the job

  • Provision of comprehensive reception, administration and clerical services for patients referred to the Integrated Urgent Care Service (IUCS), primarily booking patients in on arrival.
  • Ensuring that the base location is prepared and open at the beginning of the shift for the arrival of both doctors and patients and safely locking up at the end of a shift.
  • Welcoming patients' relatives and visitors and providing them with effective, courteous care and assisting with enquiries.
  • To communicate with patients providing concise information regarding their appointment in a format they can understand.
  • To support the Service Management Team as and when required.
  • To be responsible for recording messages as appropriate, entering all personal details of patients onto clinical systems accurately.
  • Liaison with the Service Coordinator to escalate any issues in a clinical base that may impact booking into appointments.
  • Regularly reviewing and filling out stock requests for medications, office supplies, disposables and miscellaneous items.
  • To keep the reception / waiting areas tidy and ensure notice boards are up to date.
  • To provide cover for other administrative staff in their absence or as required by the service manager.
  • To ensure that mandatory training is up to date and appropriate to role.
  • To undertake such other duties related to the work of the service as may be assigned that are consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
