Job summary
Are you looking for the opportunity to grow & develop your specialist skills within the field of Head & Neck Cancer (H&N) whilst also continuing to expand your competencies across all areas of an adult service?
Due to internal promotion, we are looking for someone to join our friendly, enthusiastic & motivated team. The post holder will work within the H&N team for part of the week, whilst also having the opportunity to work in Stroke, Community, H&N and Stroke as part of a rotation for the rest of the week. This will enable you to develop strong skills within H&N whilst also continuing to further advance your competences across other parts of the adult acquired pathway.
The H&N service covers both surgical and oncological pathways with a seamless service provided from diagnosis to the completion of treatment. We are highly respected by the wider H&N team & provide a truly multi-disciplinary approach with routine joint AHP and CNS clinics.
You will be a qualified and HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist with current knowledge of dysphagia assessments and treatments. We would welcome a discussion with anyone with general adult experience and a passion for this patient group
Main duties of the job
Every day is different! The therapist will manage a caseload of patients with swallowing / speech disorders secondary to H&N cancer alongside a rotational caseload. The rotation will occur between Stroke, Community, Acute and H&N. You will create and implement individualised treatment programmes, ensuring that these are monitored and modified as required. You will be working alongside a supportive team of experienced Speech and Language Therapy colleagues and the wider H&N MDT.
The H&N SLT team sits within the wider Adult SLT service, which covers acute to community provision. You will be part of an innovative & supportive team of colleagues delivering SLT services to the population of Gloucestershire. The team are proactive in ongoing service development initiatives. The service offers regular clinical and line management supervision. We have a strong CPD ethos, access to training is available and career development is encouraged through your regular personal development reviews.
- A supportive and stimulating work environment in a service which is committed to making a difference for people with communication and swallowing difficulties.
- We valve our staff and advocate career progression internally. We encourage our therapists to contribute to service development, and welcome and value new ideas and experiences.
We would welcome interested candidates to get in touch for an informal discussion/visit.
