Job summary
The Trust is pleased to offer this permanent Band 8b Clinical Psychology role in our Learning Disability In-patient Service based in Stroud. We are seeking candidates who will contribute positively to the development and delivery of future services and who are enthusiastic and resilient in the face of new challenges.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of person-centred service delivery, supporting the application of Positive Behavioural Support through a trauma informed lens. The role requires the delivery of an applied psychology model that promotes and supports effective psychological outcomes through direct and indirect models of working and therefore consultation, teaching and staff support will form an essential component of the post alongside direct clinical work.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be effective working with a wide range of stakeholders and capable of supporting the work of various professionals. You will join a strong and welcoming multi-disciplinary team within the unit and there are also several other qualified Psychologists, all working closely across the Learning Disability Service in Gloucestershire. A broad range of psychological models are drawn upon and valued across the service and clinicians are encouraged to develop areas of special interest; we have a good track record of supporting ongoing and substantive CPD. There are regular meetings of Psychologists across teams and specialities to consider professional issues, service innovation and joint working initiatives and we also have close links with the Doctorate Training Course at Bath University.
Good relational skills, leadership qualities, the ability to maintain a positive approach in work, and a solid understanding of psychological approaches for the client-group are all essential requirements for this post. We welcome applications from interested applicants with the relevant post-qualification experience and expertise in learning disabilities and autism, along with appropriate HCPC registration.
About us
At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.
Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.
Our Staff Survey results showed people at our Trust feel they are engaged, part of a team and work for a compassionate and inclusive organisation.
Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.
