Job summary
This is an exciting time to support medical leadership in Gloucestershire's community hospitals and community urgent care services.
The role will be part time, 2 sessions per week.
You will support experienced clinical teams and clinical leaders to do their best work, in Rapid Response, MIIUs, Home IV Team, Homeward Assessment Team, and Community Hospital inpatients.
You will provide support and direction for the directorate and trust
You will support with medical governance issues including pathways, policies and processes.
You will coordinate a program of medical teaching and supervision
You will be supported to develop your skills as a clinical leader in a large, experienced, community provider organization.
You will already have experience working as a senior doctor in the NHS, including supervising clinical staff, and supporting and developing teams and services.
Main duties of the job
- To provide medical leadership and direction to the delivery of the Community Hospitals and Urgent Care Directorate.
- Services include Community Hospitals and their associated services, Minor Injury and Illness Units, Countywide Rapid Response Service, Homeward Assessment Team and the countywide Intravenous Therapy Service.
- To provide professional leadership and support to clinical colleagues working in the directorate.
- To enable a program of directorate medical teaching, and support senior clinical leaders with the clinical supervision agenda across the directorate.
- To provide expert medical input to identified services within Urgent Care, in the first instance a regular clinical touchpoint with Countywide Rapid Response, to support the safe and quality management of the active caseload.
- To advise Clinical and Service Directors of best evidence clinical practice in the field of urgent and community care, drawing upon subject matter experts to inform decision making.
- To support the medical governance of the directorate, including reviews of incidents, learning and sharing events in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework, and supporting reassurance around relevant NICE guidance
- To support Mortality Review activity within the directorate; to support reflection and learning; to ensure specific points are reflected back to staff for learning and development.
- To ensure that the organisation's key values and principles are enacted within operational services.
