We love what we do and we think you will, too!

Interested in developing a career in Clinical Psychology and having a rewarding job in a great team?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join our Core Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team across Gloucestershire, providing high quality mental health interventions to children, young people, and their families with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We pride ourselves on working within a strong and supportive multi-disciplinary team with opportunities for learning, development, and progression.

We welcome newly qualified Psychologists as well as those with previous experience who are passionate and motivated to work with young people and families.

Main duties of the job

We are proud of offering in-depth assessments and a wide range of evidence-based interventions including an established CBT clinic (and third wave approaches), family therapy clinic, NVR, DBT, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and creative therapies. We also work closely with the neurodevelopmental team and other specialist CAMHS teams (e.g. Under 5's, and the vulnerable children's service). We offer individual, family and group interventions which may be time limited or longer-term therapies according to need and ensure the young person and families' voice remains at the center of all we do

Our service is currently going through a transformation from CAPPA to the THRIVE model and there are many opportunities to contribute to service development and areas to meet your interests.

You will have a key role in conducting assessments (including risk assessments), formulations, and delivering a range of interventions. You must be able to demonstrate the clinical, consultation, and communication skills needed to offer an outstanding service. You will be able to share psychological skills and knowledge in direct work with young people but also within the team and multi-agency colleagues (e.g. social care and schools.

About us

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

Our Staff Survey results showed people at our Trust feel they are engaged, part of a team and work for a compassionate and inclusive organisation.

Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.

The successful applicant must have the necessary professional qualification, including current registration. All CAMHS Registered Practitioners hold a generic job description, however specialist skills and responsibilities related to this role will be reflected within a personalised job plan.
