Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with expertise in breast-oncology nursing (ideally previous Breast CNS experience) to join the Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist team at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
The CNS plays a vital role in supporting patients and their families following a breast cancer diagnosis, during and after their treatment.
Providing an Holistic and Personalised approach for each individual patient is an essential component to this role. You will be required to manage patient telephone queries listening to concerns, giving advice and signpost accordingly. You are expected to establish links with the breast surgical and oncology departments, outpatients and the wider MDT for which excellent communication and record keeping is essential. Understanding breast pathways, diagnostics and surgical / oncology treatments is an advantage.
A comprehensive induction / education programme will be provided for those who can demonstrate the aptitude and potential for this position. University education at level 7, access to clinical supervision and to Macmillan professional support and development will be available.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, passionate and self-motivated about this specialist area of nursing. You will show ability to work within a team and autonomously. In addition be committed to developing services including nurse led. Excellent communication skills, flexibility and enjoy working as part of a team are essential requirements for this role.
This post requires willingness and ability to travel between East Surrey and Crawley Hospital sites as clinical need requires.
