Consultant Cellular Pathologist w/ Head, Neck & Thyroid

We have an exciting opportunity for a medically-qualified histopathologist who holds FRCPath Part 2 or is within 6 months of being awarded GMC specialist registration by CCT or CESR to work at East Surrey Hospital - part of Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust - rated as Outstanding by the CQC.

BSPS serves six hospitals across five NHS Trusts: Ashford and St Peter's Hospital, Frimley Park Hospital, Wexham Park Hospital, Royal Surrey County Hospital, Royal Berkshire Hospital and East Surrey Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a whole-time (10 PAs, of which 8.5 are DCC and 1.5 are SPA) substantive consultant histopathologist post that requires knowledge, skills and experience in general histopathology reporting as well as sub-specialty interest and experience in Head & Neck/Thyroid reporting and MDT work. We are looking for applicants with enthusiasm and drive, who are good communicators and team-workers, who foster productive working relationships with colleagues, and who are committed to patients, their safety and the quality of the services we provide.
The successful candidate will join a team established for 10 consultants at East Surrey Hospital. The main laboratory is at the Royal Surrey County hub, with cut-up and reporting being retained at East Surrey Hospital. A programme to roll out digital pathology imaging across the BSPS network is currently underway. There are active working collaborations with the Surrey Cancer Centre at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and other acute sites across BSPS.
There are opportunities for flexible working, including from home and at other hospital sites in the network, as well as for developing a role in clinical leadership, coronial work and academic, teaching and research activity through the Trust's active R&D department and its associations with Brighton & Sussex Medical School and the University of Surrey.
