Job summary

Consultant in Ophthalmology with a special interest in Glaucoma

Applications are invited for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Glaucoma, based at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a new post and attracts 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). The post holder will be joining 9 Consultant Ophthalmologist posts which are already established, and will work directly alongside two other glaucoma specialists within the service.

The successful candidate will assume a direct clinical role and will contribute to the running and delivery of the Ophthalmology service, with particular focus on the Glaucoma sub-specialism. The post holder will also participate in the on-call rota. Additionally, to provide ophthalmic service of the highest quality, ensuring that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence-based research, job planning and appraisal and to work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospitals business strategy.

All applicants must have passed FRCOphth or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). A Fellowship in Glaucoma is desirable.
