Job summary
We want to support you to get the best experience in Occupational Therapy that you can and an acute rotational band 5 post does that. We offer a wide variety of rotations at band 5 and onwards into band 6 as your career grows. We are working to build on existing rotations all the time to add to our offering.
The Therapy department is committed to providing an environment of excellent professional growth. We hold daily team huddles and regular departmental meetings; ensuring effective communication within the teams. We ensure all recently qualified staff or staff that are new to the NHS are supported through our preceptorship programme. We have dedicated CPD time, regular performance reviews and service development projects across the bands. Supervision is highly regarded within the department as a method of ensuring all staff are supported in their professional development and career progression. Furthermore, the department has a structured in-service training programme alongside monthly Band 5 peer support meetings.
Rotations are available in the following clinical areas:
- Trauma and elective Orthopaedics
- General Surgical Team
- Stroke Therapy Team
- Front Door Team- ED
- Care of the Elderly Team
- Medical Team
- Cardio Respiratory team
Our department operates an integrated therapy service, where Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists work alongside each other in each of the clinical areas.
Main duties of the job
SASH is one of just 5 NHS trusts in the country working in Partnership with Healthcare experts at the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle, USA. Within this partnership staff are supported and trained to develop a culture of continuous improvement based on lean principles. Staff have the opportunity to understand the Lean for Leaders development Programme which has led to significant improvement for both staff and patients.
