Job summary

The Children and Young People's (CYPS) Directorate in Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time (37.5 hours) Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join the Neurodevelopmental Service. This is a Surrey wide community-based multi-disciplinary team, which is part of Mindworks Surrey, a unique alliance of NHS, national and local voluntary sector organisations providing mental health services to children in Surrey using the Thrive approach.

This post will be suitable for a passionate and highly motivated HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with knowledge and experience of providing specialist assessments for children and young people with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders. The successful candidate will supervise Assistant Psychologists, work collaboratively with the team and multi-agency partners and contribute to audit, training and quality improvement. There will be a choice of base within Surrey and the expectation of travelling across the county.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their specialist skills in a working with neurodivergent young people. You will have regular supervision with a senior Clinical Psychologist and access to a wide variety of CPD opportunities. We have well established links with the Surrey Clinical Psychology doctorate.

Main duties of the job

To carry out specialist assessments of children and young people with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders, many of whom have complex needs. To work with multi-agency partners to gather information required for the assessment and to give recommendations for support. To provide expert written reports. To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and safety plan with children and young people. To supervise Assistant Psychologists. To contribute to clinical audit and service improvement.
