Job summary

The Children and Young People's Directorate in Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist development role (Band 7 to 8a) to join the Hope Service based in Guildford. Applicants who meet the requirements for a Band 8a will be considered for hiring at this band.

The Hope Service is an innovative and highly respected, multi-disciplinary service for young people aged 11-18 who are experiencing complex mental health, emotional, social and behavioural needs which could cause a placement breakdown or may require a Tier 4 hospital admission. It is a partnership between Health Services, Children's Services and Education. We are a Centre of Clinical Excellence and awarded Outstanding by Ofsted.

We are looking to recruit to a permanent part-time position at Band 7-8a level Clinical Psychologist who will work with young people with complex mental health, behavioral and social care needs. This post will be suitable for a passionate and committed psychologist interested in ensuring excellent psychological care is accessible for young people with complex mental health difficulties from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated staff member with experience in working with young people with complex needs.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for providing specialist assessments and interventions for children and young people with moderate and severe mental health problems. You will contribute to the service through consultation, training, supervision, service evaluation and audit. Supervision and support is provided by a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist.

You will be joining at a very exciting time, as our services transform to adopt the Thrive Framework in close collaboration with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership. The CYPS directorate is supported by an active Learning and Development Team, and regular training opportunities will be provided. The service has excellent links with the Clinical Psychology course at the University of Surrey.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

  • Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees (or completion within 12 months of commencement in post)

Experience

  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles
  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
  • Candidates should demonstrate experience of working with the children and young people
  • Driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
