Job summary

Are you driven to ensure the highest standard's in Infection Prevention Control (IPC) can be achieved in every service, situation, circumstance, location and setting? Surrey and Boarders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a passionate IPC lead who can demonstrate effective and productive leadership skills as a senior nurse and clinical expert in the field of IPC.

The post holder will be part of the senior IPC leadership team, being required to adapt to meet service needs, which will require cross site working and cover as necessary to maintain a safe and optimal IPC service across our Trust. As an innovative applicant creating workable solutions and providing highly expert professional infection control advice, leadership decision making, and accurate and timely reporting will be essential. Your strategic leadership will be instrumental in implementing the national and local IPC framework's, Policy and guidance.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as a subject matter expert, demonstrating advanced infection prevention and control (IPC) knowledge and skill, including the integration of research evidence into practice whilst working alongside the Physical Health Team to ensure responsiveness, efficiency, and the promotion of physical healthcare. Furthermore, the post holder will also provide inspirational leadership to clinicians in relation to the effective mitigation and management of clinical & operational risk.

The post holder will work with the Head of Physical Health and Physical Health Site Practitioners (PHSPs) to provide specialist nursing input in the identification, prevention, monitoring, and control of infection across our Trust. Contributing to the development and implementation of IPC guidelines and initiatives. Holding managerial responsibility for leading and coordinating the IPC environmental audits, whilst having the ability to work autonomously, leading IPC investigations and issues as they arise is essential. Attendance at relevant committees representing IPC will be required. Creating systems and structures that support the assurance of safe IPC practices are essential.

The post holder will be able to contribute to and support the Head of Physical Health in collating and reporting timely, efficient IPC data and reports, which will involve overseeing and monitoring IPC team compliance through our IQVIA system, and follow up where standards fall below expectation.

The role involves holding managerial responsibility for leading, coordinating and performing Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) testing across all relevant services.

Through daily activities and contact with clinical teams, supporting the PHSPs promoting the physical health of the people who use services as part of our Trusts wider Physical Health agenda is essential within the role.
