Job summary
This post sits within the Children and Young Peoples Learning Disability Service within Mindworks at Surrey and Borders. The Children's LD Service is a Surrey County Wide Service, with 4 bases: Redhill Leatherhead Chertsey and Godalming. This post is being advertised as a development post, however if you have the relevant knowledge and experience for a Band 8a you are also able to apply.
The service is a friendly welcoming and supportive Team, made up of Nurses Psychology Music Therapy and Psychiatry along with Admin colleagues. There is a monthly Business Meeting and twice monthly clinical issues meeting, with a quarterly LD Forum.
The post holder will hold a case load of young people and provide appropriate interventions / support. This will include working with the family/ carers and wider MDT to ensure a consistency of approach. The post holder will also provide regular supervision to the AP based in the geographical area. They will be supported by the Clinical Psychologist in their development. Alongside regular supervision and appraisal with an identified development plan. The post holder will also contribute to the service ASD Pathway and any other pathways that are appropriate.
Main duties of the job
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care. To maintain high standards of care in all areas of practice in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Trust Policies and Procedures. To act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005). To be aware of and implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies, Procedures and legislation.
To carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation, plan implement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions and consultations to support people with specific needs.
To actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, to act as an advocate and ensure that there is proper regard for their dignity, choice, self-esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.
