Clinical Nurse Specialist
The closing date is 28 July 2025
Job summary
Your role will involve working with young people and their families, providing interventions and therapy alongside other professionals involved in their care. You will be given training and support to enable you to deliver Family Based Treatment (FBT) for Eating Disorders in accordance with NICE guidelines. There are also other training and development opportunities for all the nurses within our team, depending on your own skills and passions (such as FT-AN, MFG and ARFID training). As nurses we have an oversight and participate in all areas of the young persons journey from our Enhanced pathway; which endeavours to keep young people out of hospital; our standard therapeutic pathway offering FBT to our physical health pathway.
We would be delighted to look at applications not only from Mental health nurses but also from Learning Disability Nurses, Paediatric nurses and Adult nurses that have a specific interest in mental health for children and young people and/or Eating Disorders.
The service currently operates flexibly between Monday - Friday (8am - 6pm). We are predominantly a face to face service with a small amount of remote working available. We are currently based in Epsom and have a hub service in Aldershot (currently one day a week) to allow us to be more available for the young people and families we support.
Main duties of the job
You will take an active role in the mental and physical well-being of the young people under our care and will monitor all physical perimeters. You will have the responsibility of managing your own case-load and will be involved in delivering care to our Tier 4 indicated clients, with a goal of preventing admissions where possible and facilitating smooth transitions to and from inpatient care.
- To enhance the wellbeing and physical health status of patients on the team caseloads.
- To advise and consult with Responsible Clinicians (RCs) and Multi- Disciplinary Team on the management of Physical Health
- To complete physical health examinations, report and discuss accordingly with relevant clinicians and GPEDS as when required
- To link with Primary Care GPs as when necessary in relation to ED patients in relation to Physical Health and Wellbeing
- To link with acute hospitals as and when necessary in relation to ED patients that need admission
This will at times require travelling to and from family homes, inpatient facilities and medical units.
